This work was commissioned by the owner of a local tattoo business to hang in the shop. He wanted something that would fit in with the decor and that had a connection to tattoo tradition.

We decided on a pirate ship in full sail on rolling seas - an iconic image in western tattoo history. I studied the work of Norman "Sailor Jerry" Collins and the construction of 17th- and 18th-century sailing ships.

This mosaic hangs in the lobby of Tatu Royale and is dedicated, with love and respect, to the memory of Chad Gregerson, artist and friend.
